Since you put a lot of effort into it, I think I owe you a response (once only): This piece is about how the ideal of the open society (which is part of the liberal tradition, and has been widely shared by both parties until recently) used to be threatened by both European totalitarianism and fascism (Popper) —is now being threatened by the hyper-capitalist utopia of the unregulated market here at home. You make this point very well for me, since you are as strident an advocate for this position as one could hope to find.
